Hora de Compartir is a time for students to learn about Spanish culture and meets several times during the semester. At the most recent meeting, Spanish students learned about one of the oldest traditions in Mexico, paper amate. Paper amate has been used by the indigenous cultures to write since before colonial times. They used this paper to write the Codices and they continue to use it to capture their art. The students learned how paper amate is made and were able to create their own art on this type of paper.
