About MVP

The Mentors in Violence Prevention (MVP) National Program, co-created by Jackson Katz in 1993, is a leadership program focused on preventing all forms of men's behavior that negatively impacts the campus environment. MVP is the premier program in the country working with athletic groups on these issues. The multi-racial, mixed gender program is the first large-scale attempt to enlist high school, collegiate, and professional athletes in the fight against this violence.

MVP is presented in partnership by the Center for the Study of Sport in Society and the National Consortium for Academics and Sports.

The program specializes in working with all members of the community including varsity athletes, Greek-letter organizations, and other student groups. MVP has also worked extensively with college sport, professional sport and the military for more than a decade.

MVP is an industry leader. It was on the cutting-edge in the early 1990s, utilizing a bystander approach to prevention – since having developed a deep understanding of it through thousands of training sessions with a wide-range of groups.
