All sophomores are housed on campus, and each residence is overseen by an assistant director and student resident advisers who serve as mentors and resources.
Room and roommate assignments
Here are a few key points about room selection for your sophomore year:
- Students make their own roommate arrangements.
- Room selection is based on a random lottery system during the spring of your first year (applications for interest housing must be submitted earlier).
- The availability of rooms and suites varies by residence hall, so preferences cannot be guaranteed
- Sophomores may choose to apply for two interest housing options: Wellness Living (see Cutten Complex), and the Harlem Renaissance Center (HRC, see Bryan Complex).
- There also are resources available for those who require special accommodations.

94 Broad is a traditional residence hall for sophomore students. 94 Broad Street has double and single occupancy rooms and spacious common spaces that are perfect for meetings, studying, or just hanging out. 94 Broad also has a partial kitchen, laundry facilities, and storage space. Dining status
Students living at 94 Broad Street are included in the traditional college meal plan. Cleaning responsibilities
Common spaces, including kitchens, lounges, and bathrooms, are cleaned by Facilities staff. Students are responsible for personal items, dishes, laundry, and toiletries. Interest housing

| About the residence
The Bryan Complex consists of Cobb, Crawshaw, Parke, and Russell houses and features single and double-occupancy rooms within suites. Suites in this complex share a bathroom and a small hallway area. Each floor in the building has a recreational lounge, a small study lounge, and a laundry facility. There are microwaves in the kitchenettes or lounges of each house.
Crawshaw House is home to the Harlem Renaissance Center (HRC), a living and learning center for students interested in African and African-American history and culture open to students of any class year. The HRC was established with two goals in mind: to provide students with an educational atmosphere about the culture and heritage of Pan-African ways of life and to educate the Colgate community about African-American culture.
The Bryan complex is connected to the Cutting Edge Bistro and Market to Go. Dining status

| About the residence
The Cutten Complex consists of Brigham, Read, Shepardson, and Whitnall houses. Cutten has single and double-occupancy rooms within suites. Suites in this complex share a bathroom and a small hallway area. Each floor in the building has a common lounge, including a kitchenette, and a laundry facility.
Read Hall is home to the Wellness Living community. Students who choose this community have an interest in substance-free housing and choose not to bring alcohol, tobacco, or other drugs into their community. This requires a substance free commitment.
The Cutten Core is a common space shared by each of the four buildings, including study space on the second floor. The first floor is home to the Shaw Wellness Institute suite. Dining status

| About the residence
Drake Hall houses students in a variety of rooms and suites, but most of the rooms in Drake Hall are doubles. Each floor has a kitchenette with a sink, refrigerator and microwave. Each floor has an enclosed study lounge and larger community lounge.
The Office of Residential Life is also located in Drake Hall, and has a separate entrance. Dining status
