Colgate Dining Services has the following environmental sustainability initiatives in place: Food and beverage offerings
- Local meat, poultry, and dairy in our venues by collaborating with our local community through Purdy & Sons and other New York state providers
- Organic rice, grains, and other foods are offered daily in Frank Dining Hall
- Colgate is working with the Cornell Cooperative Extension to identify additional local vendors to provide more local products
- Dining services offers the following hot beverage options:
• Aspretto fair trade and 100 percent naturally grown products at Frank Dining Hall
• Green Mountain organic and fair trade products at the Coop, Cutting Edge Bistro, and catered events
• Starbucks fair trade products at The Café at Case Library and Geyer Center for Information Technology
Sustainable partnerships - Initiative provides 80 dinners weekly to an area soup kitchen
- The Colgate Community Garden provides a platform for expanded horticulture and environmental education, along with community gardening best practices

The Coop and The Café offer beverage discounts to encourage use of reusable mugs
- Partnership with Eco-lab using eco-friendly, ware-washing chemicals

Fryer oils are picked up and converted for local fuel conversion
- Recycling efforts involve cardboard, plastic, cans, and bottles
Sustainable packaging
- Pre-recycled, compostable napkins are used in all locations

Frank Dining Hall uses non-disposable china or hard plastic for meal service

Corn-based compostable packaging and flatware is used where ever take out is available
