Let’s Get Ready
Description: Colgate students who volunteer with Let’s Get Ready partner with a national organization to help local high school students prepare for the SAT, as well as assist them with college choices, the application process, and financial aid. Colgate students coach either verbal and writing or math for a 3-hour session each week throughout the Spring semester.
The Let's Get Ready program at Colgate strives to bring educational equity to the Hamilton area and has shown significant success so far. Tutors have helped improve scores as much as 200 points per person just in the last year!
Community: Volunteers partner with the national organization but teach weekly to high school students in the Hamilton area, including students at Hamilton Central School and Sherburne-Earlville Central School.
Volunteers say: "It is very rewarding to watch your students get a sense of direction as they come to understand the SAT and college choice process. By the end, I think they are adequately prepared to move on to college and continue their growth."
