Green Earth Gang

Description: The mission of the Green Earth Gang is to promote environmental awareness among children ages 8 – 10 in local schools through experiential and interactive activities.  Once every two weeks the GEG student members teach a 40-minute class about an environment-related topic such as energy conservation, pollution, renewable resources, and other environmental issues.

The GEG works with elementary students and their teachers in hopes that the students will apply what they learn to their daily lives.  The leaders of GEG and any other interested members collaborate on the bi-weekly lesson plans.  Our goal is to make learning about the environment fun.

The time commitment is around 1-2 hours every other week, and transportation to Madison Central School is provided.

Volunteers Say: "I enjoy GEG because it is a fun and meaningful experience.  I get to do science experiments with 4th graders and provide environmental awareness at the same time."
