Adopt-a-Grandparent
Adopt-a-Grandparent is a Colgate volunteer program where students sign up to visit the elderly at Hamilton Memorial Hospital's Extended Care Unit (ECU). Students can either attend weekly planned events, such as bingo and manicure nights, or be paired up with one of the ECU's 40 residents. If paired with a resident, the student will schedule weekly hour-long meetings to talk or play games. Adopt a Grandparent will also host several themed parties throughout the school year.
Friends of Madison Lane
Friends of Madison Lane seeks to unite Colgate students with members of the senior community in Hamilton by creating a conversational atmosphere on Friday afternoons, complete with "Banana Bingo" and other games.
Hamilton Manor
Hamilton Manor is an adult home for low-income seniors and people with developmental disabilities. Volunteers visit with residents once a week for two hours. Residents enjoy reading books, playing games and socializing with the students. Colgate students are the only visitors some residents receive.
