Description: These dedicated volunteers undergo intensive training and become full members of the Hamilton Volunteer Fire Department, providing emergency services to residents in crisis.

Community: Volunteers with the Hamilton Fire Department work directly at the local fire station, helping any local area community member who requests assistance.

Volunteers say: “While I have always volunteered, being in HFD has been the most meaningful experience I have ever been a part of. Before I came to Colgate I had never imagined I would ever have the chance to literally save a life day in and day out. Every time the pager goes off I instantly have the chance to better someone's day, whether I am cutting someone out of a mangled car, working a structure fire, or simply helping an elderly lady get back in her chair, I have the unique opportunity to help others and see immediate and real results.”
