Description: The Network is dedicated to spreading awareness about domestic and dating violence, through volunteering at a local women's shelter and on a domestic violence hotline, implementing events for the community, inviting guest lecturers to campus, and fundraising.
Student volunteers usually commit about an hour a week, and transportation is provided when necessary.
The Network is strongly commited to making a difference on campus by raising awareness about these important issues. In the past they brought a nonprofit theater group, Playrights, to campus. Playrights travels the country to educate college students about dating violence. In addition, there was also a basket raffle that raised money for children staying at Liberty Resources Safe House.
The annual "Taking Back the Night" event continues to be popular, and this year they are launching a peer support group.
Community: The Network works with an organization called Victims of Violence, serving a clientele in neighboring towns, usually lower class women and children. Most of the work is indirect service. They make holiday baskets and birthday gifts, as well as volunteer on a hotline.
