Madison Craft Club

Description: MAD Crafts is an after-school art program. Every Tuesday from 2:45-4 p.m. Colgate students drive to Madison Central School to work with twenty fourth graders. Each week the Colgate students are greeted with smiling faces and an unbeatable creative energy.

Some of the projects include kites, leaf collages, Q-tip painting, and making clay sculptures. No art experience is necessary in order to join the group. On the last day, Colgate volunteers prepare a goodbye part for the kids with pizza and sidewalk chalk.

The after-school program is an hour a week and the provided transportation to and from the school is less than a half hour.  We have two short meetings a semester that are under an hour.  Team leaders really like the input of the members and encourage them to help design and plan the crafts.

Community: MAD Crafts works with fourth-graders at Madison Central School.

Volunteers Say: "The kids are great and can really brighten your day.  I am continuously amazed by their creativity and in the time you spend with them, you can really develop great relationships."
