TRUTH DOES NOT SPEAK FOR ITSELF
The Colgate Speaking Union's motto registers its interest in promoting effective and ethical speech. The ancient image of the open hand of Eloquentia and the clenched fist of Logica symbolizes the Colgate Speaking Union's alignment with the discourse arts and their traditional commitment to engendering belief, advancing inquiry, shaping decisions, and inculcating character attributes suited to the pursuit of a fruitful public life.
The Colgate Speaking Union affords its members with many opportunities to apply their liberal arts education to their extracurricular speaking activities and interact with people around the world who share their regard for the power, utility, and beauty of the spoken word.
