Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Program

Collaborate with Help Restore Hope/Liberty Resources, Community Memorial Hospital , and the Network for a successful launch of the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner program.

More about the program
The development of the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) program for Colgate University students (and the residents of Madison County) was initially approved by Colgate’s Board of Trustees in the fourth quarter of 2015. Since that time, many steps have been taken to develop this program, especially between June 2016 and the date of the initial launch, scheduled for August 2017. An initial launch of the SANE program at Community Memorial Hospital (CMH), as supervised by Help Restore Hope (HRH) /Liberty Resources, will take place at the start of the 2017-2018 academic year. Colgate University Administrators have been working closely with HRH and Community Memorial Hospital staff in development of this important resource.

The development of a SANE program for a community the size of Hamilton, NY is relatively unprecedented. In fact, this SANE Program is the first SANE Project in a rural community in New York State and because it could be considered a “start-up” venture for Madison County, it has required a number of stakeholders in order to launch for this inaugural year.
