Colgate offers students file storage on our local servers (Netstore) as well as through Google Apps for Education's Google Docs.
Netstore provides 500MB of storage per student and with the use of Shadow Copy Plus allows one to retrieve past saved versions of documents that were saved to Netstore.
Google Docs provides 1024MB of storage of any file type.
Windows XP
1. Right Click on "My Computer" and select "Map Network Drive"

2. Select any available drive, such as "M:", or "N:"
3. Enter one of the following for "Folder":
- Students use: \\netstore1\Student6\USERNAME
- Faculty use: \\netstore1\employee1\USERNAME
- Staff use: \\netstore1\employee2\USERNAME
After entering your appropriate folder, click "Finish".
If accessing network storage off campus:
- Students use: \\netstore1.colgate.edu\Student6\USERNAME
- Faculty use: \\netstore1\employee1\USERNAME
- Staff use: \\netstore1\employee2\USERNAME
Windows 7
1. Click on Windows Orb > Computer > Map network drive...

2. Enter one of the following for "Folder":
- Students use: \\netstore1\Student6\USERNAME
- Employees use: \\netstore1\employee2\USERNAME
After entering your appropriate folder, click "Finish".
If accessing network storage off campus, connect using the following:
- Students use: \\netstore1.colgate.edu\Student6\USERNAME
- Faculty use: \\netstore1.colgate.edu\employee1\USERNAME
- Staff use: \\netstore1.colgate.edu\employee2\USERNAME
Select GO in the FINDER menu and then click on CONNECT TO SERVER in the pull down menu

Enter the following for "Server Address":
- Students use: cifs://netstore1/student6/USERNAME:
- Faculty use: \\netstore1\employee1\USERNAME
- Staff use: \\netstore1\employee2\USERNAME

*Note: If cifs does not work, use smb
Enter your Colgate username and password when you are prompted. Do NOT select “Remember my password in the keychain” if you are using a public or classroom computer.
The Finder will display your folders and files under the shared folder ‘netstore’

When using a public or classroom computer, you should Eject the netstore folder when finished to prevent unauthorized access to your files. To eject, click the eject symbol to the right of the netstore folder circled in red above.
