Services Offered
The DMS team will provide expertise, training, consultation and equipment/facilities to support Colgate programs, including but not limited to those programs listed below. Specific services (e.g. filming, editing, streaming, etc) will be performed by either DMS team members or dedicated liaisons funded by specific programs (e.g. Athletics).
Academics
- support student curricular assignments by offering in-class workshops and faculty support in assignment development and assessment
- digitize and deliver movies and films shown to classes
- process classroom media (conversion, duplication, troubleshooting)
- capture classroom lectures with video or audio only
- produce video-tutorials for curricular use
- film/edit/distribute special guest lectures
- film/edit/distribute classroom demonstrations
- produce faculty and student features highlighting pedagogical best practices
- create and provide support for VisLab productions
- support special departmental projects (e.g. English dept.-Living Writers, Biology dept.-Greenhouse tour)
Communications
- coordinate the video journalism program which employs student workers to produce 2-3 minute campus features to tell Colgate’s story on the web - Open Video Console
- record and deliver podcasts (search Colgate in iTunes)
- produce the annual senior profiles video project
- film/edit/distribute reunion events
- provide video journalism support to produce 2-3 minute campus features to tell Colgate’s stories
- coordinate with the editors of the Scene to link videos on the Colgate website to written articles in the alumni publication
- support special events like the filming and producing of Rebecca Chopp’s farewell interview
