Team role & responsibilities
The mission of Administrative Systems is to advance Colgate’s institutional goals by designing, developing, and maintaining administrative software and Web solutions. To insure scalability and maintainability, we select, purchase and if necessary modify third-party applications rather than build custom software. However, it is often the case that we develop solutions in-house when a solution does not exist to meet our specific needs.
The group has several key practical responsibilities, including:
- Supporting all administrative computing systems at Colgate, particularly SunGard Higher Education's ERP system (commonly referred to as Banner)
- Providing enterprise solutions for Colgate’s computing needs by acquiring appropriate third-party applications and building custom applications as necessary
- Supporting and enhancing the Colgate portal which provides personalized and customized access to university resources through the web
- Ensuring fresh, consistent, well-designed web content on the public site, the portal, and other administrative web projects
- Consulting on technology planning for the university and performing needs analyses for specific projects
