Appointments 

Appointments and resume reviews can be scheduled in person, or by calling 315.228.7380.

Fifteen-minute walk-ins for quick questions are available on a first-come, first-served basis: 
Mondays 1-7 p.m. and Tuesdays through Fridays 1-4 p.m.

Teresa Olsen, interim director

Teresa OlsenSpecialty areas for advising: arts, architecture, consulting, finance, non-profit, management development programs, students who have not decided their career direction

Teresa draws from over ten years of experience encompassing Career Services positions at Dartmouth College and Indiana University prior to joining the senior leadership team within Colgate’s Career Services office.  Her additional work experience has encompassed roles with the IU Foundation, judicial affairs/sexual assault advocacy, and with AmeriCorps*VISTA.  And she also currently serves as the Secretary for the Liberal Arts Career NetWORK, a consortium of 30 selective liberal arts colleges. Teresa’s research interests include millennial generation career decision-making, translating liberal arts into the world of work, work-life balance, career development for student-athletes, and career development with underrepresented populations. She holds a B.A. from Colby College (Spanish and Human Development) and a M.S. in higher education administration at Indiana University. Teresa, her husband, Patrick, and their two children are avid outdoor enthusiasts, and diehard members of the Red Sox and Raider Nations.

Barbara Roback, associate director

Barbara RobackSpecialty areas for advising: government and public service, health, international student (non-U.S. cititzen) job searches, international searches, law, sciences, career transitions (5+ years)

Barbara counsels and advises students of all class years and alumni in career exploration, networking, resume, cover letter, and interview preparation, and internship, job, and graduate school searches. 

She earned her master of international business at the University of South Carolina and her bachelors in Inter-American Studies from the State University of New York at Albany. Her educational experience included study abroad in Bogota, Colombia, and an internship in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Barbara's previous work experience was international internal auditing, tax consulting, and public relations.

Chip Schroder, associate director for employer relations

Chip SchroderSpecialty areas for advising: finance, insurance

Chip Schroder came to Colgate in August 2004. He is responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with organizations in a diversity of sectors for recruiting Colgate students for employment. Additionally, he runs Colgate's formal recruiting programs and advises students to equip them with life skills for future career prospects.

Prior to joining Colgate, Chip was a regional sales manager for Rivel Research Group, in Westport, CT. Before that, he worked as a vice president of institutional mutual fund sales at Gabelli Asset Management Co. in Rye, N.Y. Prior to joining Gabelli, Chip worked as a registered representative for Dean Witter in Syracuse where he grew up, and for Lehman Brothers in New York. He received a BS in Finance from Manhattan College. When not working with employers and Colgate students, Chip enjoys spending time with his wife, Jean, and their three children.

David Loveless, assistant director

          Specialty areas for advising: sports/recreation, hospitality/travel, insurance, undecided students

David Loveless came to Colgate in January 2001 and joined the Career Services staff in August of that same year.  He spends most of his time focused on individual student appointments working on career exploration, resume and cover letter building, job/internship searches and a host of other related activities.  In addition to his advising, David also supervises the Peer Advisors in the office and facilitates their hiring, training and continued development. 
With strong family roots in the area, David returned to his hometown with his wife, Darcie ’98, after living and working in the Washington D.C. area.  His professional background primarily consists of sales and client relations.  David received a B.A. from St. Michael’s College in Colchester VT.

Nancy Marshall, career advisor and Manzi Fellowship coordinator

Specialty areas for advising: education, fashion, journalism, music, publishing, theater

In addition to the above-mentioned specialty areas, Nancy enjoys advising students of all class years who are undecided about their career paths. She also takes pleasure in helping students craft perfect cover letters!

Nancy holds a BA in American Literature from Middlebury College and is a former English teacher. She enjoys spending time with her husband, Steve, and children Caroline, David, Katie, and Jack.

Lamont Fields, career advisor  

Specialty areas for advising: entertainment (film, tv, radio), foreign language-based careers, information technology/computer science, media/ promotions (advertising, marketing, sales, merchandising, public relations), undecided students

Originally from Brooklyn, NY---Lamont completed his M.Ed. in higher education (concentration in student affairs) from Iowa State University (ISU). His background in the field of Career Services, at the university level, supports his ability to advise students and alumni in resume/cover letter design, interviewing, and networking. Lamont is responsible for coordinating both the Internship Credit Program and Colgate on the Cuyahoga, and facilitating a variety of professional development workshops and programs.

He earned his B.A. from SUNY Oswego in Broadcast and Mass Communications - - -In his leisure time, Lamont enjoys listening to music of all genres, visiting art museums/galleries, and learning new and exciting cultural dances. 

Janine Oliver, career advisor

Specialty areas for advising:  environmental/green careers, finance, non-profit, psychology, real estate, undecided

After graduating with an AB in English from Princeton University, Janine worked as a teacher and an outdoor educator. She then earned a master’s degree in counseling from the University of New Hampshire. Janine’s solution focused style lends itself naturally to career advising. With her passion for career assessment and exploration, Janine can be a great resource for students and alumni by helping them identify potential career paths based on their interests, values and skills. In addition, Janine can help with the steps along the way: from resume and cover letter development to networking and interview strategies to career decisions. When not at Spear House, Janine can be found advising student teams at the COVE or playing in the outdoors with her husband, Ben, and their dog, Ollie.

Joseph DiDomizio, office manager/career coordinator

 

Keith Watkins, recruiting coordinator

Keith coordinates on-campus recruiting for partner employers, and disseminates job information to faculty and academic departments.  He also helps students and alumni with naviGATE accounts and technical issues.

Colleen Oliva, event planner and program coordinator

Colleen is the Event Planner & Program Coordinator for Career Services.  She receives programming requests from students, faculty, staff and external constituents. Colleen also handles the logistics and marketing/outreach initiatives associated with these programs. Colleen has worked in higher education for over 15 years at institutions including Bridgewater State University, Wentworth Institute of Technology and Tufts University School of Medicine. She received her B.A. in Art History from the College of the Holy Cross and her M.A. in Higher Education from Boston College.  Colleen is on campus Monday, Wednesday & Thursday from 8:30 am - 3:30 pm.  

Kim George, alumni engagement coordinator

Kim George ’99 joined the Center for Career Services in 2011. She coordinates programs such as Real World, Spring Immersion, Mock Interviews, and A Day in the Life. She can be a great resource for both students and alumni who are interested in connecting through these programs.

Kim lives in the Utica area with her husband, Luke George ’99, and their two children, Ella and Kevin.

Peer Advisors

Peer advisors are trained to help students with resume and cover letter writing, job and internship strategies, and utilizing the library and technology resources. They also work to expand the outreach programming and marketing efforts of the Center.

Interns

Interns support Career Services with projects and programming. Their duties also include answering the telephones, scheduling appointments, updating databases, and providing general assistance.
