Colgate Writers' Conference
June 17 - 23
Our senior staff is here to talk with you about writing and the writing life, and to work with you on your fiction, poetry, novel, or memoir. Whether you are a veteran writer or a novice, we offer a range of consultations, workshops, craft talks, panel discussions, readings and informal conversations that will sustain your long-range efforts or help you get started.
Bring a story, a book in progress, some poems or a novel, and work with us on developing narrative strategies, verse techniques and methods of research. Members of the publishing profession will also be here to discuss marketplace tactics.

Session I : The College Preparatory D.A.N.C.E Camp at Colgate University
The D.A.N.C.E camp prepares current female high school juniors and seniors for college. We primarily build writing and critical thinking skills in relation to five principles: Dance, Awareness, Nutrition, Creativity, and Empowerment. These five tenets at the college prep camp are designed to nurture collegiate skills and encourage participants to academically excel as creative, health conscious, and socially insightful college students. The five camp principles, which assemble the acronym D.A.N.C.E, are mutually reinforced by courses that make up a one week residential summer program at Colgate University.
Session II: This session is designed to emphasize the aesthetic, cultural, and civic dimensions of dance within the context of the College Prep D.A.N.C.E camp philosophy. During this one week camp session we will build a diverse movement vocabulary for campers by exposing them to West African, Modern, Ballet, Jazz, and Hip Hop dance styles. We will connect their dance lessons to discussions and activities that echo the College Prep D.A.N.C.E camp principles.
