Health Sciences Advising Office

The office is in 115 Wynn Hall and is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Students are welcome to browse through the catalogues, brochures, and posters of various health professional schools; view CDs from medical, dental, veterinary, osteopathic, and other health profession schools; pick up registration packets for VCAT's, OAT's, as well as AADSAS and VMCAS applications.

A medical shadowing program, which runs each semester, is offered through this office. There are presently 28 area physicians participating. Students interested in pursuing a career in the health professions are encouraged to sign-up for this valuable health-care experience.

The Health Sciences Advising Office is in Wynn Hall.
We have doctors in family practice, radiology, opthalmology, emergency medicine, osteopathic medicine, orthopedic surgery, radiology, dentistry, nursing, and veterinarians that participate.

All juniors, seniors and alumni who are planning to request a letter of recommendation from the Health Sciences Advisory Committee MUST fill out a summary sheet, waiver forms and a transcript request form.

These are only available in the Health Sciences Advising Office. The DEADLINE for receipt of completed summary sheets is generally mid-February (see Important Dates). A student's file will not be considered active until the completed summary sheet is received.

Once this is submitted, an interview with one of the committee members will be assigned. In the meantime, requested individual letters of recommendation should be arriving in the office to be included with each student's file.

A composite committee letter will not be written for anyone that has failed to submit a completed summary sheet, waiver forms, transcript, and individual letters of recommendation.

The Association of American Medical Colleges has a useful website for those planning to apply to medical school. Here you will find information about the MCAT and AMCAS applications and other information for students.
