Data Center

Colgate’s main data center and server farm is located in Case-Geyer. Colgate also houses a second, redundant data center for disaster recovery and business continuity in O’Connor.
These facilities provide redundant power through UPS and generator, environmental controls, and 24x7 monitoring of system outages.

Colgate utilizes virtual server technology enabling the continuous use of services in the event of hardware failures.

Also located in the main data center is a High Performance Computing Cluster (HPCC) for scientific and other academic research. The HPCC runs Linux on 16 nodes.

It is through these data centers (and various intermediary closets throughout the campus), that ITS is able to offer a robust infrastructure hosting VoIP, a 1GB redundant Internet connection, Banner, Moodle, NOLIJ, file shares, the Colgate website, and any application the campus needs.
