Resources

The Learning and Applied Innovation group provides a range of educational technology resources and services to support teaching, learning, research and creative work. Below you’ll find brief descriptions of these resources, how to access them and get support. We encourage you to explore these resources, and reach out to let us know how we can assist you.
Teaching and Technology Micro Grant
The Teaching and Technology Micro Grant program provides funding for faculty members to explore and experiment with digital technologies to enhance teaching and learning. Faculty members may request up to $500 (per academic year) to support the purchase of software or hardware that will be used in one or more courses. Learn more about the Teaching and Technology Micro Grant


Moodle
Moodle is Colgate's enterprise learning management system (LMS), which supports teaching and learning activities across all courses. Faculty use Moodle to provide access to course materials, facilitate communication, distribute and collect assignments, conduct online assessments, and maintain gradebook records. Learn more about Moodle


Google G Suite
G Suite for Education is Colgate’s centrally-supported productivity and collaboration platform. The familiar set of Google apps: Gmail, Docs, Drive, Sheets, Forms, Calendar, Classroom, Sites, Hangouts, are used by faculty, staff and students to perform a range of tasks. Learn more about the G Suite


Colgate Domains
Colgate Domains provides webspace and digital tools for faculty to create websites to support their teaching and research. Colgate Domains provides access to various platforms for web publishing (WordPress, Omeka, Scalar, etc.) in support of innovative approaches to teaching, learning, research and creative work. Polling Technology
Polling technologies (e.g., classroom response systems, or “clickers”), employ the use of dedicated hardware, or web-based software and mobile devices to collect real-time feedback from learners. Learn more about Polling Technology


Ensemble (Media Server & Anthem)
Ensemble is Colgate’s digital media server that provides secure and reliable access to web-based video content. Ensemble Anthem is a screen recording tool that allows you to capture audio and video recordings from any computer, and automatically stores it to the media server. Learn more about Ensemble


Lightboard
The lightboard is a glass writing surface (think chalkboard), combined with a video camera setup that allows for the creation of compelling instructional content. Learn more about Lightboard


Academic Poster Printing
We offer a service to print course related academic posters, and are available to consult on layout and design. Learn more about Academic Poster Printing


3D Printing & The Hub
Colgate provides access to 3D printers, and other “maker” technologies (drones, microcontrollers) in our small makerspace called “the Hub.” Learn more about The Hub


Digital Learning & Media Center (DLMC)
The DLMC is a state of the art computing facility located in Case Library (5th) floor.  It serves as an open learning space that can be used as a collaborative studio, a formal classroom, a computer lab, a showcase for student work, and a hub for media equipment use and lending. The DLMC also provides instruction and integrated support for course-based digital media projects. Learn more about the DLMC


Ho Tung Visualization Lab
The VisLab is a digital theater and planetarium for immersive learning and research experiences. This one of a kind space at Colgate displays stars and constellations as well as original content developed for full-dome display. Learn more about the VisLab
