Training for Student Leaders and Athletes: Sexual Assault Prevention

Due to new New York State legislation, all student leaders and athletes are now required to complete sexual assault prevention training.

About This Course

Haven Plus™ provides tailored sexual assault prevention training.  The course contains content that is specifically required by the amendments to the Clery Act included in the 2013 VAWA Reauthorization and other pertinent federal regulations.

Haven Plus

Haven Plus is an engaging online, research-based program that provides a unique learning experience regarding important prevention skills and strategies for students. It builds on Haven: Understanding Sexual Assault and you will learn about healthy relationships, the importance of consent and being a good communicator, and the many ways you can help create the safe, positive campus at Colgate.

Haven Plus takes about 45-60 minutes to complete, ending with an exam and survey.

Getting Started

To complete the program, you will need internet access and audio capabilities. If you do not have ready access to a computer, you may use a computer at a local library, copy center, or community center.
  1. Click the button to the right and sign into the the Colgate Portal.
  2. Complete the confidential pre-survey on the EverFi (parent company to Haven Plus) landing page.
  3. This takes you to the Haven Plus course landing page. If you have not taken Haven Plus previously click on "Get started." Begin the course. Select your class year if prompted to select a group.

Consequences

Student Leaders who do not complete Haven Plus will be subject to a variety of consequences that may include restriction of BAC funding and or organizational privileges. Student athletes who do not complete Haven Plus will not be allowed to compete as a member of their varsity team.

  • We want to ensure that you have an understanding of the risks associated with alcohol and drug use and sexual assault.
  • We want to ensure that you are knowledgeable of resources available for additional education and support.

Privacy
All survey responses are confidential; the school will only receive information about the student body as a whole, and will never see individual student responses. The course includes surveys to personalize your experience and measure attitudes and behaviors. Administrators will have access to student test scores, but like the surveys, will not have access to individual responses.
