Meika Loe

Associate Professor of Sociology
and Women's Studies



Professor Meika Loe studies the sociology
of gender, sexuality, and aging. She is the author of Aging Our Way: Lessons for
Living from 85 and Beyond
(2011), which follows the everyday lives of 30 elders to understand how they create and maintain meaningful lives.  Her first book, The Rise
of Viagra: How The Little Blue Pill Changed Sex in America
(2006), examined the history and the vast social implications of the Viagra phenomenon.


Professor Loe’s media credits include NPR, the BBC, AARP’s Prime Time Radio, the New York Times, London Sunday Times, Mother Jones, etc. 


Members of Colgate’s faculty have expertise on a wide range of newsworthy issues, and can be valuable resources to reporters, producers, and other members of the media. The university has a broadcast-quality recording studio, and video capabilities to achieve high production standards and meet tight deadlines.
