Karen Harpp: Research in Iceland

Petrologic controls on volcanic eruptions

The aim of this study is to gain insight into the mechanisms and timescales of magma differentiation through geochemical analysis of lavas and tephra from historical Hekla eruptions dating back to 1104 AD, as well as microanalysis of zoned phenocrysts.
