About:

  • For more than 60 years, the Colgate Thirteen has delighted audiences with fun, surprises, and the best a cappella sound anywhere. Old and new musical favorites supply the Colgate Thirteen with an active repertoire of more than 100 songs.

    As Colgate University's own "ambassadors of good will", our unique blend of song and humor will bring excitement to any school assembly, sporting event, fundraiser, or special occasion.
  • The Colgate Thirteen gives more than 50 performances each semester, travels more than 14,000 miles a year, and has recorded a total of 22 albums since 1942. We have performed across the United States and overseas, sung the National Anthem at Super Bowl XIII, appeared on The Tonight Show, entertained presidents and royalty.

    For your special event or simply for your CD player, the Colgate Thirteen is sure to impress and entertain.

Auditions:

  • At the beginning of each semester, The Colgate Thirteen holds auditions for its newest members. Open to any male undergraduate, we ask that the perspective Thirteen'er audition before the entire group. Each singer will audition once over the course of two nights.

    A call-back audition is held on the third night for those signers the group would like to consider further. Announcements and sign-up sheets will be posted around campus for more information. The auditions roughly follow the outline below:

    1. Scales
    2. Pitch Recognition
    3. Joke/Story
    4. Solo (of your choice)
    5. Blending
    6. Vocal Percussion
