Howard Hughes Medical Institute

The Howard Hughes Medical Institute awarded Colgate a $1.2 million grant to develop long-term, productive connections across disciplines through the development of a systems biology program.

This grant is also to provide transformative experiences in science for college and high school students, and to extend the reach of Colgate to our surrounding communities by offering science workshops and other experiences for public school teachers and students.

Funded Opportunities

Summer student research at the National Institutes of Health for undergraduate students participating in Colgate's unique semester-long off-campus study group at the NIH. Support for faculty and curriculum development for the departments of mathematics and biology, as well as other departments in the Division of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at Colgate. Outreach to area primary and secondary school teachers and students through the Science Affiliates program, a summer science and sports camp, the 3D visualization lab at the Ho Science Center, and the Upstate Institute at Colgate.
