All CLTR services for faculty are for formative purposes and are outside of the promotion and tenure process, and your interactions with CLTR faculty and staff will be kept confidential. These services are for faculty at all ranks and are open to visitors and adjuncts.
CLTR can help coordinate the videotaping of your teaching for your own review and/or for consultation and feedback with CLTR faculty/staff.
The CLTR director is available to coordinate one or more visits to your classroom (from a non-participating observer) to be followed by consultation. This service is outside of the departmental/program peer-evaluation of teaching.
The CLTR director is available for consultation and referrals. Appointments may be made at any time of the year (including the summer), and no concern or question is too trivial! Consultation topics may include, but are not limited to, course design, grading, syllabi, classroom management issues, professional life at Colgate, pedagogical resources at Colgate, etc.
CLTR is in the process of collecting resources related to teaching and the teacher-scholar balance (including balancing teaching, scholarship and service post-tenure). Please stop by our offices in Lathrop to see what we have on hand, and do not hesitate to suggest titles for us to add to our collection.
Student Evaluation of Teaching (or, SET) Form Discussion
The CLTR director is available for consultation or referral regarding your SET forms from a formative perspective (for an evaluative perspective, you should discuss your SETs with departmental colleagues, your chair and your division director[s]).
CLTR also helps coordinate “Teaching Tables”, "Faculty Reading Groups" and other faculty development opportunities.
