SGA Presidential Elections

Congratulations to the 2013-2014 SGA President and Vice President Sam Flood & Matt Haley!

Hello Colgate. First, thank you very much for electing Sam and I to the SGA executive positions, we are very excited. For the past three years we have seen much of SGA's operations - both the good and the bad. We have learned from all of those experiences and understand that one of the biggest challenges to SGA as a whole (and starting at the top with the executive) is the buy-in from the SGA members. We have worked on this in our past roles as Speaker of Senate, Parliamentarian, etc. and we look to stress this in the future. This will start with leading by example and holding each other accountable.

The school is going through great change, evidenced even in the three years that we have been here - and it will continue to change as new Administrators settle in to their positions. We hope to capitalize on this period of time in Colgate's history to make sure student government's voice is well-represented and involved in every aspect of University operations. We wish to make sure that we are present in the conversation so that these new administrators best understand the student perspective of the initiatives. It is always the case that the school benefits from student input, as these initiatives are not only well-intended but functional in Colgate's culture. All that being said, we also hope to make the rhetoric in past student government elections come to fruition; by faithfully exploring all of our initiatives in the coming year we look to represent you, the student, well and make the school even better.

Thanks for voting Sam and Matt and please let me know if you have any questions, suggestions, or ideas for us to pursue!
