Before coming to Colgate in 2012, Mike was director of Career Services at Wesleyan University, worked in career services at Brown University and the University of Rhode Island, and held a variety of student affairs positions at the University of Rhode Island, the California State University, Fresno, and the University of New Hampshire. Mike is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island with a BS in gerontology and an MS in human development, counseling, and family studies. His career has encompassed a few twists and turns including: training in clinical hypnosis; spinal cord injury rehabilitation; and singing backup for Mr. Kenny Rogers.

Teresa oversees the team in Career Services to deliver a personalized, high-impact experience to Colgate students, alumni, employers, and families. A passionate advocate for the liberal arts, Teresa presents regularly, consults as an external reviewer, and has served in multiple leadership positions within liberal arts consortia. She was awarded the NACE Excellence Award in 2014.

Teresa holds a BA from Colby College and an MS in higher education administration from Indiana University. Teresa, her husband, and their two children are avid outdoor enthusiasts and die-hard members of the Red Sox and Raider nations.

Courtney joined the advising team at Colgate in September 2018. Before coming to Colgate, Courtney was the Outreach and Volunteer Specialist for Planned Parenthood of the North County New York and the House Director for the Beta Chapter of Delta Delta Delta at St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York.

Courtney has a MPH with a concentration in Maternal and Child Health from Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine as well as a BA in Anthropology from SUNY Potsdam. While at Tulane, Courtney worked for the Mary Amelia Women's Center on a breastfeeding awareness and policy change campaign for the city of New Orleans and Louisiana Public Schools.

Courtney lives with her partner, Cameron, in New Hartford where they enjoy recreational sports, trying every restaurant possible, and traveling as far as they can on any given weekend.

Vera Chapman

Vera first began her career at Colgate University in 2013 as the Associate Director of Career Development and recently transitioned into the role of Career Advisor for Creative Communications and the Arts to allow more time spent directly with students.

Originally from Cape Town, South Africa, a study abroad experience at Clemson University led her to the University of Mississippi, where she pursued advanced degrees in counseling and higher education. After becoming a licensed professional counselor in Mississippi, Vera served as a career planning specialist and adjunct professor at the same institution. Vera is passionate about empowering others to become the most extraordinary version of themselves — something she accomplishes through blogging and other creative ventures. Vera is joined in Hamilton by her husband, David Chapman, who currently serves as the head coach of the Colgate rugby football club, and their two young children, Grayson and Ivey.

Laura joined Career Services in June 2018 with a focus in the Finance, Consulting, Real Estate, Sales and Marketing areas. Prior to joining Colgate, she was the Career Services Coordinator within the School of Business and Management at The College at Brockport, State University of New York.

Laura has a BS in Business Administration from Ithaca College, and MS in Higher Education, and a Certificate of Advance Study in Intercollegiate Athletic Advising and Support from Syracuse University. During her time at Syracuse University, Laura was a Graduate Assistant in the Office of First-Year & Transfer Programs with a primary focus on support and programming for transfer students and first-generation students. She also completed two graduate internships at Syracuse University in the Stevenson Educational Center for Student-Athlete Development and the School of Information Studies Career Services Office.

Outside of work, she enjoys local sports, dining spots, traveling, reading, going to concerts and spending time with friends and family.

David and his wife (Darcie ’98 – Associate Director of Annual Giving) are originally from Hamilton. After receiving his BA from St. Michael’s College, David worked in sales in the Washington, DC area prior to moving back to the place he calls home. An avid sports fan, David can often be found rooting on the Raiders.

James joined Colgate Career Services in September 2014 as a Career Advisor with a focus on the STEM disciplines. Prior to his arrival at Colgate James was employed at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute where he served as an Associate Director and Lecturer in the Archer Center for Student Leadership Development.

James earned an Ed.M. degree in Higher Education Leadership and Policy Studies with a concentration in Student Affairs Administration from the University at Buffalo and a BA in History from the State University of New York, College at Geneseo. James brings to Colgate more than ten years of experience working with college students in a variety of capacities including, leadership education, curriculum design and assessment, community development, and one-on-one coaching. He enjoys helping students bridge their interests and passions with their professional goals to find a sense of fulfillment and success.

Originally from the Finger Lakes region of New York State, James resides in Syracuse and is excited to enjoy the diverse array of outdoor recreational activities that Central New York has to offer.

Kelsey is part of the Employer Relations team within Colgate Career Services, assisting the Associate Director of Employer Relations and Assistant Director. Kelsey was raised in Hamilton, NY, and attended Hamilton Central School. Throughout the years she has enjoyed being a part of a travelling figure skating team, performing in many theatrical productions, playing roller derby, and helping on her family’s produce farm, Mosher Farms of Bouckville. After studying music therapy in Morristown, TN, Kelsey lead music therapy classes for adults with developmental disabilities and taught a music and movement class at Two-By-Two Nursery School. Kelsey loves living in her hometown community near her family and enjoys crafting, singing with her husband, and hiking with her dogs.

He enjoys doing anything with his wife, son, and daughter, photography, music, automobiles and racing, astronomy, restoring anything, snowboarding, and tending sheep.

Laura transitioned to the career services operations team in January 2018 where she focuses on assessment and signature programs including Summer Funding. Laura originally joined the CCS team as a career advisor in July of 2015. As a career advisor she focused on working with students interested in business fields as well as first-generation and OUS students, and student-athletes. 
Laura came to Colgate from Defiance College, OH, where she served in a variety of roles including Director of Career Development, Admissions Counselor, and adjunct professor in the department of natural sciences. Laura lives in Hamilton with husband, John Hartpence, who is a member of the track & field and cross country staff at Hamilton College, and her two daughters.

Chelsea has been at Colgate in the Dean of the College division since 2011, until her move to the Center for Career Services as Assistant Director for Alumni Engagement in December of 2015. In this role, she will work to connect current students with alumni through job shadowing and events such as SophoMORE Connections and a Day in the Life.

Before coming to Colgate, Chelsea received her bachelor's degree in psychology from Nazareth College in Rochester, NY and her masters in College Student Personnel Administration from Canisius College in Buffalo. Chelsea and her husband graduated from Hamilton Central School, and are happy to be back home with their young daughter Harper.

The Management and Leadership Skills Investment Studies Program provides opportunities to explore financial literacy, basic investing strategies, and basic valuation strategies. Participants learn skills such as budgeting, personal savings strategies, and basic investing.
