Dr. Merrill Miller Endowed Fellowship

Established in 2005 by Dr. Merrill Miller, Director of Student Health Services at Colgate University, this fund supports students who want to gain experience through an internship or research experience in health or other science-related fields. Preference will be given to students who would not otherwise be able to complete an internship or research experience due to financial constraints.

Criteria for Applicants

To be eligible for funding, applicants must:
  • Be a sophomore, junior, or senior at Colgate University in the current academic year. (A first-year student with an exceptional application may be considered.)
  • Intend to intern or do research in the health or science-related field.
  • Be in the process of applying to or have already obtained an unpaid internship.
  • Apply on naviGATE

Finding an Internship or Research Experience

We strongly encourage potential applicants to speak with Career Services advisers, Colgate faculty, mentors, alumni, health care professionals and scientists to identify and pursue meaningful experiences.

A few good places to start your search are on naviGATE – Colgate’s online jobs and internships platform – and the Health Services Advising website.

Application Process

The application for funding through the Dr. Merrill Miller Fellowship Program is found on naviGATE. Students must have completed the Career Search Ethics workshop to be able to apply.

All required documents must be submitted for the application to be considered complete.

Reminder: Students do not have to have secured an internship or research role to apply, but do need to be in the process of applying to opportunities.
