Take the Plunge Challenge

Last month, Colgate asked the classes of 2003–2012 to make 1,300 new gifts to the university before June 30th, 2013. If you succeeded, five intrepid administrators would swim across Taylor Lake. The gifts have been tallied, and our administrators have come together to thank you for your generosity and to announce the results.

Why We're Willing to Take the Plunge for Colgate

Gary Ross

I believe strongly in Colgate, in our mission, and in the generosity of recent alumni. Those are the main reasons why I am willing to take a leisurely swim in the crystal clear waters of Taylor Lake, but as an additional incentive, back in 1976, a Colgate friend threw my Seals and Crofts album in there, and I have been looking for an excuse to hunt for it ever since.
Beverly Low

I have an insider's perspective on how funds raised through the Colgate Annual Fund can change lives and provide opportunities for the brightest, most determined students to achieve at the highest level. Never one to shy away from a challenge, and secretly wishing to jump into Taylor Lake for the past 12 years, I cannot think of a better way to take the plunge in the Year of 13.
Vicky Chun

If our young alumni are willing to step up and join our amazing list of donors, I'm willing to dive in. That's right, I'm daring our Colgate family to make me take the leap into Taylor Lake!
Tim Mansfield (right)

Colgate has given me so much over the last twelve years. I am pleased to give back by jumping in Taylor Lake and beating my friends and colleagues across to the other side. Anything to help get 1,300 alumni to make a gift... Go 'Gate!
Murray Decock

I would do anything to continue making a positive impact on Colgate and Colgate students. If it takes beating my colleagues Bev, Tim, Gary and Vicky in a swim across Taylor Lake, I am prepared to take my tetanus shot immediately!
