Facilities

Lawrence Hall houses the Humanities and is home to the Classics Department. Erected in 1926, the building was most recently renovated in 1996.

While classrooms throughout Lawrence Hall are used for instruction, the W.H. Gifford Classics Center is the premier room for instruction in the discipline. It houses the Classics Library, a vast collection of classical texts and information on antiquity.

Lawrence Hall also contains the Humanities Lounge and the W.M. Keck Humanities Resource Center. The lounge provides ample space for all Colgate students to sit, relax, and get a little work done. The Keck Center contains 26 workstations for language learning and other humanities applications.

The lounge is graced with Greek figures etched beautifully in glass, designed and created by local artist Denise Stillwaggon Leone. Descriptions of the etchings may be found here
