The neuroscience program at Colgate is one of the first two established at undergraduate colleges in the United States. Today it continues to offer a unique and challenging academic experience.
A distinctive feature of the program is its interdisciplinary faculty, which includes a cell biologist/neurochemist, a zoologist/neurophysiologist, a physiological psychologist, and a cognitive neuroscientist.
Majors can choose courses from chemistry, biology, psychology, physics, and philosophy offerings.
The program also offers numerous opportunities for research on projects ranging from the activity of single neurons to the behavior of complex organisms.
The program has its home in the psychology department, but neuroscience majors take courses offered in numerous other departments and can do research with a variety of faculty in the Division of Natural Sciences and Mathematics.
