The Amazon Yarapa River Lodge in Peru

The Amazon Yarapa River Lodge is open to students from anywhere for long-term studies, field trips, and research projects. The Lodge also offers 4-day and 7-day itineraries for voyages.

Cornell University has built and maintained a research station adjacent to the Amazon Yarapa River Lodge. Since the completion of the field lab in 2001, multiple groups of students and scientists have studied and researched the flora and fauna of the rainforest. Ethnobotanical studies and medicinal plant research is currently being done at the facility.

The Amazon Yarapa River Lodge is dedicated to protecting the environment and has agreed with the local tribes to set aside a huge natural preserve. The Lodge uses earth-friendly resources, including full solar powering, composting, and flush toilets with a waste management system.

Australia Study Group

The University of Wollongong, located on the coast of New South Wales, approximately 50 miles south of Sydney, is the study site for the Australia Study Group. This study-abroad program is designed for students who have demonstrated a strong affinity for broad-based, interdisciplinary exploration of environmental studies.

The academic offerings and extensive resources of the University of Wollongong, as well as the living and studying opportunities with Australian students, allow study-group participants a unique means to broaden and deepen their understanding of the historical, cultural and biological diversity of Australia.

The overall goal of this study group experience is to acquaint students with the historical events and environmental issues that have shaped the modern state of Australia. This experience will immerse students in a foreign culture, exposing them to contrasting ways of thinking about and configuring the world, which will deepen their understanding of their own beliefs and identity.
