Investigating Local Food and Sustainable Dining at Colgate University (pdf)
ENST 480 students Adriana Lopez, Alex Yingling, Ali Stokes, and Cat Weiss analyzed what exactly is meant by the term “local” and the extent to which Colgate University is committed to eating locally. The report recommends ways to increase Colgate’s use of local foods.

ENST 480 students Sara Zurmuhlen, Shae Frydenlund, and Justin Alimaras determined factors driving student recycling behavior by facilitating six focus groups on campus.
Climate Action Planning: Guiding Colgate University to a Sustainable Future (pdf)
ENST 480 students Trevor Kreznar, Mallory Lostumbo, Katelyn Ciolino, and Justin Roy established a framework to evaluate the various components of a Climate Action Plan, which will help Colgate meet an upcoming deadline as a signatory of the American College and University Presidents’ Climate Commitment (ACUPCC).

ENST 480 students Sarah Finn, Julie Gibbons, Kathleen Onorevole, and Steffan Pierre spent the semester developing the first draft of Colgate University's Climate Action Plan (CAP). This intensive project involved researching other CAPs, working with CORE128 students in developing potential mitigation strategy proposals, developing a framework to rank said proposals, creating carbon dioxide emission reduction packages from the accepted proposals, recommending a package to the board, and creating a first draft CAP document.

During the spring semester of 2008, 15 students in Environmental Studies 480, Interdisciplinary Investigations of Environmental Issues, investigated several alternative energy options for Colgate and the local community.

Ben Taylor '10, sustainability intern, conducted Colgate University's 2008-09 Comprehensive Greenhouse Gas Inventory this past summer. Ben gathered data by following the guidelines set by the Clean Air- Cool Planet Protocol.

Organic/local food movement
Nina Merrill '09 also did an independent study on organic farming. This paper traces the evolution of the movement from its inception in the 1960s to its current status.

Rachel Surprenant '08 wrote a paper on the lack of transparency in our food system. Ultimately, she concludes local eating is the way to go.
