Environmental Council
The council is composed of faculty, administrators, and students to encourage the development of a coordinated environmental vision for the University to ensure a safe, healthy and sustainable environment.
Environmental Studies Program (ENST)
The Environmental Studies Program is designed to enhance students’ awareness of the seriousness and complexity of regional and global environmental problems and to underscore the consequences and impacts of the human experience on the habitability of planet Earth.
Green Bikes
The mission of Green Bikes is to provide the Colgate and Hamilton community with inexpensive, convenient, human-powered transportation to decrease reliance on automobiles.
Green Earth Gang
The mission of the Green Earth Gang is to promote environmental awareness among children ages 8 – 10 in local schools through experiential and interactive activities. Once every two weeks the GEG student members teach a 40-minute class about an environment-related topic such as energy conservation, pollution, renewable resources, and other environmental issues.
Green Summit
The Green Summit is a think-tank that brings together students, faculty, staff and community members to brainstorm solutions to Colgate’s sustainability challenges - and then carry them out!
Meets annually at the beginning of the spring semester.
Hamilton Outdoor Group
Group members teach local Hamilton middle schoolers, grades 6-8, outdoor skills and an environmental ethic that will encourage them to experience the outdoors in a positive manner. Activities include scavenger hunts, rock climbing, snowshoeing, and capture the flag.
Loj
Launched in the fall of 2002, The Loj is a residential house on Broad Street that brings together students who share a common interest in the outdoors. The purpose of The Loj is to support various ways of relating to the natural environment such as adventure/recreational activities, environmental activism, academic study and outdoor/experiential education.
Outdoor Education Program
Regarded as one of the finest of its kind, Colgate's program provides students a chance to rediscover the natural world while learning about themselves.
Students for Environmental Action (SEA)
Student organization with the goal of fostering a healthy and livable Colgate community based on a sustainable relationship with our natural environment.
Student Government Association
Each academic year, one ambitious student serves the SGA and the Colgate community as the policy coordinator for environmental initiatives. The coordinator is a student representative on the Environmental Council and on the Campus Ecology Group and keeps the SGA in tune with all the environmental initiatives on campus.
The Cove
Our goal is to help America meet its two most pressing challenges: to create healthy communities that meet the multiple needs of all people, and to create an activated citizenry of community builders who are committed to democracy.
Upstate Institute
The mission of the Institute is to create linkages between Colgate University and the regional community to engage students, faculty, staff and residents in research and a reciprocal transfer of knowledge that will enhance the economic, social and cultural capacity of the area and sustain the environment.
Center for Leadership and Student Involvement
CLSI is the hub for the student-run organizations on campus. Student organizations are recognized by the Student Government Association, but the staff in CLSI helps the students build their leadership skills in the areas of communication, budget management, delegating, and managing logistical aspects of events.

Common Thread
Common Thread is a Community Supported Agricultural (CSA) farm serving Central New York, the Mohawk Valley and Syracuse. The farm is located in Madison, just 5 miles north of Colgate University near the tip of Lake Moraine.

Chenango & Madison Bounty is headquartered in Sherburne, NY and aspires to provide easy access of local, fresh food to all of Chenango and Madison County citizens.

Regional Computer Recycling and Recovery (RCR&R)
Located in Rochester, NY, RCR&R recycles Colgate's electronic equipment.
Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI)
RGGI is the first mandatory, market-based effort in the United States to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Ten Northeastern and Mid-Atlantic states will cap and then reduce CO2 emissions from the power sector 10% by 2018.

Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE)
Colgate is a member of AASHE and each of us can access the wealth of information on their website and subscribe to their weekly bulletin. First, create your individual AASHE Member Account. Use your Colgate email address as your user name. You will receive a password in your inbox. Next, go back to the login page, enter your email in the user name box and type or paste the password that was emailed to you. That will give you access to all of their locked resources. All Colgate faculty, staff and students have access to AASHE's resources - so please share with others who may be interested!

Architecture 2030
A non-profit, non-partisan and independent organization, was established in response to the global-warming crisis by architect Edward Mazria in 2002. 2030’s mission is to rapidly transform the US and global Building Sector from the major contributor of greenhouse gas emissions to a central part of the solution to the global-warming crisis.
