Jason Rand ’07 has made the leap from Colgate student to alumnus, and it landed him in San Francisco working for an Internet start-up company.

It’s been a period of transition for Jason, just like it surely has for his 673 classmates who graduated this past May.

Going through an intense job search, paying bills, figuring out public transit options, missing college friends, and trying to meet new people.

In essence, Jason is adjusting to life in the “real world.”

During his senior year at Colgate, Jason had shared his experiences with the wider world through the university’s student blog – ‘gatelife. He’s now talking about his post-college life on a new blog -- ‘gatelife 2.0.

Here are some blog excerpts:

“I remember starting my collegiate life in August 2003, and thinking that May 2007 seemed so far away. It came quicker than I would have liked. My closest friends are scattered across the country and world …”

“So today, I stepped foot onto the Google Campus in Mountain View. No, not for a job interview (I am already happily employed), but for an "open house." I had heard so much hype about the place that I figured an opportunity to check it out should not be passed. And wow …”

“My to-do list is always packed ... and with things I have in the past four years never even thought about: pay the electric bill, make sure to get a parking permit and bus pass, file your W-40 tax return (or whatever that is), cut a rent check …”

“So after an entirely fun-filled weekend, it's Monday. Fortunately, I enjoy Mondays more than most. My office building offers free bagels and cream cheese on Monday. I mean, can it get any better than that? I think not.”

It’s all about his life, the 2.0 version.
