Can I pay my tuition bill with a credit card?
Colgate does not accept tuition payment by credit card. However, Colgate does have relationships with TuitionPay and Tuition Management Systems whereby they will accept tuition payments via credit card on behalf of Colgate. There is a teleprocessing fee for this service through either company.
TuitionPay accepts MasterCard, Discover and American Express. The convenience fee is based on the dollar amount charged (for example TuitionPay would assess a $600 teleprocessing fee for charges of $20,000). If you would like more details about this service, you can call TuitionPay at 800-762-8370. Click here to go directly to the TuitionPay website.
Tuition Management Systems (TMS) accepts MasterCard, Discover and American Express cards. A convenience fee of 2 - 3% (based on transaction amount) will be charged. For more information, call TMS at 800-722-4867. Click here to go directly to the TMS website.
What is the tuition prepayment plan?
The tuition prepayment plan offers parents the opportunity to pre-pay tuition for two, three, or four years at the current rate of annual tuition set for the first year of participation in the plan. Parents need to complete the Prepayment Plan Agreement form.
Can I wire money to pay my tuition bill?
Yes, Colgate does accept wire transfer of funds for tuition payments. Contact the Student Accounts office at 315-228-7812 for further assistance.
If I have a credit balance on my account, how can I receive the credit?
Students can withdraw credit that results from aid payments by contacting the Office of Financial Aid and asking for the credit. Depending on the amount of credit you have, you can either receive cash (for amounts $350 or less) or a check (for amounts greater than $350). If the credit is the result of a parental payment, the credit needs to be requested by the parent and a check will be sent to the home address. A parent can also provide authorization for the student to receive the credit by contacting Student Accounts.
Do I have to purchase Colgate’s health insurance?
No, you do not have to purchase Colgate’s health insurance. However, it is a requirement that all students are covered with a health insurance policy. If a student is covered by a private, family policy and provides proof (copy of insurance card) of coverage to Colgate, no health insurance premium will be charged to the student tuition account. Annually all students must go to www.studentassist.com (password 0536) and either enroll in or waiver out of the university insurance program.
Who can provide me with enrollment verification for scholarships and/or private health insurance coverage?
All enrollment verification is performed by the registrar’s office. Families can call the registrar at 315-228-7408 or 7676 or e-mail the request to registrar@mail.colgate.edu.
Who should I contact with questions about my fines?
Student accounts sends out summary billings every two months to all students who have accumulated miscellaneous fines. If you have a question or want to appeal your fine, you should contact the department that assessed the fine (i.e. Campus Safety for parking fines; Case or Cooley Library for library fines, etc.) Student Accounts can only process your payment. We do not have the authority to adjust or cancel fines for other departments. Use the following list to determine who to contact about your specific fine.
