Frequently Asked Questions
E-Bill and E-Pay Now Available
Colgate, in partnership with Nelnet Business Solutions (NBS) QuikPAY, is now offering electronic billing and payment services for students and their families.
Students can access these services through the portal by clicking on Student Resources, expanding Banner Self-Service and choosing View/Pay E-bill.
Students must “authorize payers” by creating a login name and password and providing an e-mail address for the authorized payer. Students will need to share the password they create with the person they set up to be an authorized payer.
Once authorized by the student, authorized payers can check billing messages, establish payment profiles and user preferences, view accounts, make payments and review transaction history at any time.
Authorized payers will receive an e-mail from their student notifying them that authorization has been completed. The authorized payer can click on the address in the e-mail or go here to access the student account.
The site is now open and students may enter the site at any time. We encourage students to set up their authorized payers as soon as possible. If you have any questions, please contact Student Accounts at stuaccounts@mail.colgate.edu.
The Office of Student Accounts is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Summer hours are 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The office is located on the ground floor of James B. Colgate Hall.

Tuition insurance is available through A.W.G. Dewar, Inc. An explanation of the tuition insurance program and application is mailed to enrolled students in late spring. If you decide to purchase this coverage and your student is forced to withdraw due to illness, accident or other medical reasons, the protection afforded by the plan will be a welcome resource.

Colgate requires that students have health and accident insurance coverage. Students who enroll at Colgate will be billed for the Colgate Student Group Health insurance unless they provide proof of alternate coverage. It is the responsibility of the student and/or their family to update the university when changes in coverage occur. Insurance information is required by the university each year in June.
All first-year students are required to live in a traditional residence hall.
All first-year students are required to participate in the Premier Unlimited plan. All sophomores (and Upper-class students living in Traditional Residence Halls) must choose either of the Unlimited plans or the 14 meal plan.

Payment Options
Most Colgate families choose to pay the tuition bill twice each year at the beginning of each semester. Other popular options are the monthly payment plans administered by Tuition Management Systems and Sallie Mae Business Office Solutions (TuitionPay). The payment plans allow a family to spread their annual cost over a ten-month period. The plan payments begin in June and end in March each year. It is also possible for families to pre-pay tuition for two, three, or four years (PDF) at the current rate of annual tuition set for the first year of participation in the plan. More information about any of these payment options is available by contacting the Office of Student Accounts.
Colgate University utilizes the lockbox service provided by our bank to collect tuition payments. The address is:
Colgate University
P.O. Box 31062
Hartford, CT 06150-1062
The lockbox is an automated system that requires the original coupon from the billing statement to accompany each payment.
The lockbox cannot process payments that arrive without the coupon. Additionally, scholarship checks can only be processed by Colgate University. Correspondence should not be mailed to the lockbox.
Please mail correspondence and/or scholarship checks to:
