Music at Colgate is exciting! It will open new doors for you in the creative and performing arts. Not only are there excellent performing opportunities, but the music department also focuses on training intelligent musicians with an equally strong background in history and theory.

Choice is a key word. You decide your level of involvement. Every class, lesson and/or performing group is open to any Colgate student regardless of major.

You can simply take one class, or you can totally immerse yourself as a major. You choose; the opportunities are there. Performance at Colgate is first-rate. If you are interested in serious study, more performance opportunities with individualized attention from the faculty exist at Colgate than at most music schools.

Our major organizations are the Colgate University Orchestra and the Colgate University Choral Ensembles. The Colgate Chamber Players and the Concert Jazz Ensemble also provide opportunities for performance.
