About our Office

The Office of Public Relations and Communications works to communicate vital information about the university to both internal and external audiences.

The office is responsible for The Colgate Scene,  the university's official publication. It comes out six times a year -- January, March, May, July, September, and November. Other major external publications produced by the office include the admission viewbook and the Colgate catalogue.

The director of web content works with campus web stakeholders to update the www.colgate.edu site. The campus calendar events are cleared by the office, and photographs used on the website and in a variety of brochures and publications are generated by the department.

Members of the media relations team assist journalists with questions regarding the university and also work to place stories about Colgate in various media outlets.

The vice president for public relations and communications, Charlie Melichar, oversees the office and reports directly to university President Rebecca Chopp.
